As we settle into a new post-pandemic normal, we’ve gained a lot of insight and wisdom about our homes. Our clients have a better knowledge of what they want from the home Design they want to live in. The trends we see for 2022 have this intentionality, individuality, and innovation running through them. These trends inspire self-reflection and celebrate self-expression, from blending solid and saturated colours with unique patterns.
Browns and greens
BROWN has resurfaced after years of declining popularity! Brown is becoming increasingly popular in custom houses, with shades ranging from deep chocolate to camel and caramel. Furthermore, the GREEN craze that began in the second half of last year has grown into a full-fledged fixation. Many of the homes we’re constructing or have recently completed include deep, rich green tones. So, is it an accident that we’re embracing two of Mother Nature’s most stunning colour creations.
Elements of Nature
The trend of using nature-inspired surfaces and things in our homes appears to be here to stay. We’ll see botanical, animal, and floral-inspired prints in fabric, upholstery, and wallpaper throughout the year. In architecture and interior design, this notion of biophilic design is all about creating a visual connection with nature.
Bathrooms and kitchens that are dark
Many of our homeowners have been astonished by a growing trend. Dark and sombre kitchens and baths are all the rage among interior design insiders, and some clients have welcomed the movement while others have remained sceptical. Over the last few months, we’ve loved watching several of our homeowners take risks with their kitchens and bathrooms. They, like us, are anticipating the mood and drama that these rooms in their houses will evoke.
Colours and patterns that pop
In contrast to the “dark and sombre kitchen” style mentioned above, this next trend appears to be embraced by almost everyone. Homeowners and interior designers are keen to incorporate vivid colours and patterns into their houses deliberately. Adopting intense colour and practices seems to be the appropriate level of design risk-taking for individuals who aren’t ready to delve into the deep end with a grey kitchen. Each person to urgently the deep, rich hues that speak to them the most and overlay them with unexpected patterns and accent pieces, all to create a design t design
Vintage and Eco-Friendly Accents
The days of matching furniture and materials are long gone. Instead, we’ve learned to value the uniqueness of handcrafted finishes, furnishings, textiles, décor, and artwork. With the rise of the “grand millennial” style and the push for reusing and sustainability, vintage is very much in favour. Higher quality, longevity, support for local artists and small companies, and a stronger connection to the things we surround ourselves with are just a few advantages.
Patterns and Textures in Combination
The trend of layering multiple patterns, textures, and material kinds in a single space is all about being deliberate and mindful. Any degree of mixing adds depth and visual stimulation to a room; some homeowners prefer an understated, well-edited combination of patterns and textures.
Pieces of Furniture with Curves
We’ve seen an increase in sculptural shapes and organic lines in previous years, and 2022 will be no exception. Sloped lines, curved silhouettes, and asymmetric shapes explored in wall treatments, tile design, and furniture pieces, consistent with the originality and individuality, are seen in the other trends mentioned.
Mindful Environments
All of us have realised the importance of having a designated space in our home where we may regularly reflect and rejuvenate. Our homeowners are becoming more deliberate about including such a place in their homes. Prayer rooms, spa-like restrooms, meditation “zen chambers,” steam showers, personal saunas, etc. While the hard finishes and décor vary from area to space based on personal preference, the goal remains the same build an environment.
You might want to incorporate some of the trends we’re seeing into your idea of what your home could become in the future year. Alternatively, you may not! Each of this year’s design trends based on this idea. YOU have the opportunity to design the home of your dreams. Have fun curating!
