The National Club Football Association (NCFA) is an association of collegiate American football teams. It is an affiliate of the CollClubSports affiliate and manages NCFA’s National Championship.
NCFA teams are usually operated by clubs of students, not by faculty. They are not part of the institution’s intercollegiate athletic program. Any postsecondary institution can host the clubs provided that they recognize football as a sport for clubs. However, the Intercollegiate Club Football Federation (ICFF) recognizes, in addition to the above, student clubs without official sponsorship and independent programs that combine students from multiple schools who would otherwise be not able to participate in college football (the NCFA allows its members to participate in these teams but does not allow those teams to contest for the championship).
Many clubs have membership in both the ICFF as well as the NCFA, especially in the south and midwest (only in the Northeast, where the ICFF’s Yankee conference expelled some NCFA members in 2015, is there a major distinction between the two). From 2012 until 2015, the NCFA National Championship Game took place at Salem Football Stadium in Salem (Virginia) and was also the site for the NCAA Division III Football Championship. From 2016 to 2019, the NCFA National Championship Game took place at West Family Stadium, West Liberty University’s Wheeling campus.
NCFA National Championship
The NCFA National Championship Bowl will be the final match of the National Club Football Association season. It is the place where semi-finalists and the winners of the NCFA Playoffs face off. From 2012 to 2014, the game featured the top-two teams in the country, as determined by the NCFA Coaches and Power Rankings. The NCFA introduced a playoff with eight teams which included four conference championships. It was established in 2015. The four winners would determine the semifinalists, before the championship.
The 2019 NCFA National Championship Bowl Game was simulcast live by audio and video. The Buckeyes took the win 36-9 against the Golden Grizzlies.

In light of the ongoing effects of the COVID-19 pandemic due to the lingering effects of COVID-19, the 2021 NCFA National Championship Bowl Game was limited to the top two teams in the league’s final Power Rankings and not a playoff. Waynesburg University was chosen as the new location, which is more central to the remaining teams.
Yearly Postseason Awards
The National Club Football Association started awarding Academic All-Americans in the year 2013. Since 2014 the league has been naming the winners of Players of Excellence from both sides of the field as well as the Head Coach of the Year award. Oakland University leads the pack with five postseason honors and George Mason has four.
