Sports Video Games FIFA 15
If you know anything about me, you are aware of my hatred for the game of soccer. I’d rather sleep for a week on a bed of nails than watch a soccer game. With FIFA 15 making this list, it demonstrates how good the game truly was. Because I only know two soccer players in the world, Messi (I don’t even know what his first name is). And Cristiano Ronaldo, I had to ask some friends which FIFA is the best and why.
After pointing out that FIFA 20 was not great and FIFA 21 does not look promising, FIFA 15 was the overwhelming favorite. In FIFA 15, you could purchase coins that allowed you to purchase player card packs. This would be used in one of the most popular game modes, Ultimate Team. Ultimate Team allows you to assemble your own soccer team and compete against other online players. FIFA 15 was one of the last games to use the old engine, making it a classic. It was the last time FIFA was casual, in the sense that someone like me with no knowledge of soccer could play and compete online against avid fans of the game.
Fans of sports video games, such as FIFA, become frustrated every year. When a new version of the game is released that is a carbon copy of the year before. The only noticeable differences are that some players have switched teams. FIFA 15 was unique. The animations were vastly improved over previous years. And everything in the game was animated.
Real crowd noise was added, players could express up to 600 different emotions. Every stadium in the game was licensed by FIFA. FIFA 15 was the best game in the franchise thus far. It was so good that an anti-soccer fan like myself included it on the list of the best sports video games of all time. In my mind, calling soccer or ftbol a “sport” is even a stretch.
NBA 2K18
The NBA has grown exponentially over the last two decades. With major marketable stars like LeBron James, Giannis Antetokounmpo, Steph Curry, and James Harden, you would expect NBA fans to be more invested in 2K. News flash: NBA 2K still sells well, but the game has so many flaws that NBA 2K21 is unplayable in my opinion. The animations are mediocre, and the gameplay lacks flow. NBA 2K18 was the last time it was done well. NBA 2K18 has a plethora of game modes, the most popular of which are My Team and My Career.
My Career is a unique game mode in which you begin as a high school player and work your way up to drafted into the NBA. Instead of working your way through college and then getting drafted, your My Player pursues a career as a DJ but cracks an NBA roster after scouted in a street basketball game. You can not miss Basket Random if you’re a fan of basketball. Yes, after excelling in amateur street basketball games, your player signs an NBA contract. Thank you, 2K, for always realistic.
NBA 2K18 is the best game in the series because of the neighborhood included in My Career. Instead of sitting in your created player’s apartment and playing in NBA games, 2K18 has your player living in a neighborhood. Where you can walk around and get your hair cut, work out, play street basketball, and work on brand deals. NBA2K18 generates a lot of money through the My Career and My Team modes, where you can buy coins to improve your player and ultimate team. NBA 2K18 was the last 2K game that was enjoyable to play. It won the “Best Sports” game at the 2017 Game Awards. It’s also amusing to see Kyrie Irving on the cover dressed in a Celtics uniform.
NHL 94 – Hot Sports Video Game
To have a game from 1994 that is still playable, NHL had to hit a home run with this one. Any positive hockey analogy you can think of to associate with this game would be correct: a hat trick, a 50-goal season, a shutout from a goalie. NHL ’94 is still so popular that it can be purchased for the Xbox X Series and PlayStation 5. On the Xbox Store right now, you can get a bundle that includes NHL 21 and NHL ’94 for just $4 more. This bundle is the only new video game I purchased in 2020. Sure, I prefer the classics, but NHL ’94 was a popular game in the 1990s and early 2000s.
The animations were ahead of their time, and the simple controls made for a fun and relaxed gameplay experience. Obviously, technology has advanced significantly in the last 26 years, but a game like NHL ’94 is still viable in today’s market. NHL ’94 was the first hockey video game to feature one-timers, which allowed your player to shoot the puck immediately after receiving a pass. The camera angle was revolutionary for sports video games, as an ariel view provided gamers with a more immersive playing experience. Another significant difference between this game and previous ones was the ability to save your data and records.
The Show 2020
Nothing beats being able to play a game as realistic as The Show 2020 as a baseball fan. The only reason it is so low on this list is that it is only available on PlayStation. Which I rarely get to play as an Xbox user. As a baseball fan, The Show 2020 is a must-have. And the in-depth animations with sleek cutting camera action add an exciting element to the game.
MLB Unlike Madden and 2K, The Show as a franchise is know for consistently pleasing the gaming community. MLB The Show made a lot of progress with their 2019 release, but MLB 20 takes the cake. The Franchise mode is simply addictive. As it allows you to customize various aspects of your own team in the hopes of winning a championship. Diamond Dynasty mode is very popular and similar to other games’ ultimate team modes. With the Road to the Show game mode. You can also customize your own player and work your way up to the Major Leagues through the minor leagues.
Players from across the league competed in a tournament, bringing even more attention to how popular The Show 2020 was. The Players League Tournament’s stars were Blake Snell and Amir Garrett. And by hosting something like this, MLB did a good job (for once) of marketing their stars. MLB The Show rules the baseball video game community, and the franchise does an excellent job of improving the game year after year in order to increase sales. When The Show finally makes its way to the Xbox, I will be ecstatic.
