Dr. O’Connor commented that some people have described “pre-medicating” before getting their vaccine. He said this was acetaminophen or ibuprofen. They do this to avoid side effects. This is not recommended. Your immune system may be less able to benefit from the vaccine if you take unnecessary acetaminophen or ibuprofen. You shouldn’t take medication for symptoms that you don’t feel. You can take medication if you feel sore, have any side effects or need minor pain relief.
