For centuries, philosophers have debated the nature of truth and pondered its significance, impact, and potential. But many believe one man’s truth can be another man’s lie, and in today’s day and age, with a multitude of views, it has become the norm to believe truth is all about perspective. Yet it begs the question–Is it really just about perspective? Is that all truth is? If you were to ask those who know and stand with the truth even when it goes against what they believe, they would answer no. That is not all truth is. Truth is absolute; it is unaffected by our fleeting life spans. The sun rises in the east and sets in the west; this is an absolute. Gravity affects all people the same, and this is absolute. At some point in their lives, everybody has experienced or dealt with pain, which is absolute. No matter how you look at it, the truth is absolute. Just like those truths, things that actually matter to have a semblance of absolutes, they are unaffected by our opinions. Now, one can question what actually matters. The answer is simple; we matter; humans matter. What matters more than humanity? We are the fundamental building blocks of society, and I would go as far as to say even this small blue marble we reside on. We are, believe it or not, the most important thing; our connection, behavior, experiences, and existence is most important. Yet, in today’s fast-paced world of ever-evolving technologies and the desert of information, a lot of which is shrouded in the darkness of falsity, it is hard to see the light of truth. However, those who know and have experienced will tell you that to live a better, more fulfilled life, you must face the truth; you must learn to accept it even when and if it does not align with the sensibilities of society.
The fact is that a lot of us have become cynical and unkind. We have forgotten that our individuality is affected by our connection with other humans, with our and their humanity. Everyone comes into this world in the same way-a rather impersonal, painful, a primal, slimy experience that dates back some thousands of years and will remain that way. The same is not at all unique in any way. Yet every one of us is unique. One-of-a-kind, ONLY, never duplicated, individual, different from everybody else. And YOU are an important piece of the big picture because it can’t be complete without you. YOU, the individual YOU, are the only YOU who is, ever was, and ever will be. THINK ABOUT THAT. YOU, the individual YOU, are SPECIAL for all time, at the same time being just one of the multitude of souls on this earth. Nobody else will ever look through your eyes, feel with your hands, or think with your brain. Nobody else will ever be YOU or do what you do. But one person can change the world (t’s been done several times before) and you can be that person. You are IMPORTANT. You start out being important. Where you finish and everything between is entirely up to you. Sure, your life will be affected by others every day of it, but only you will do what you do in spite of it. So you are not only important, you are in control. That gives you power. As much as anyone else. How about you do something with it?
We must understand that within the confines of humanity, we have the freedom to express our individuality completely. Yes, at this point, the little cynic that lives within us all will argue that things are not as perfect as they should be, and it can be immensely difficult to express one’s individuality. However, there is a way to conquer that thought, there is a way to learn to express it perfectly in this imperfect world, and that is to accept the truth and reject all else. Yes, it is not as easy as it seems, but there are things that help you and become your own north star, leading you to more complete and happier life. One of the things that can lead you down that path is an immaculately written book by an experienced veteran of life, Fred L Fox. He himself has faced a great many truths and knows the power, freedom, and tranquility that one can achieve by choosing to face things head-on. In his book, “To Tell the Truth” he intricately and in a quite reader-friendly manner has poured out his experience and knowledge for others to learn from. For those who want to bring meaningful change Mr. Fox’s book can and will be the complete guide, it takes the readers from step one to the last step on their journey and in the process, it flawlessly teaches the reader a great many things. One of the best things about “To Tell the Truth” is the fact that it does not come off as preachy, rather it has a tone that is soft inviting, and warm. As mentioned before, another one of those things is facing the truth, no matter how inconvenient or bitter. It is accepting the fact that it’s not possible for an individual to be conceived, born, and survive without others. But many of us simply turn away from others when they reject us, even becoming hateful; in most cases, though, what happens is that we don’t want to face the truth; we don’t want to be honest with ourselves and look within to figure out if there might be something wrong with us. Rather we start to blame other people; we start to think of everyone as the enemy, all because we fail to or choose not to face the hard truths of life.
Nevertheless, once a person can learn how to do that, they can and will see the benefits in not only all their relationships but also in their own lives and their own behavior. It is imperative for us to see the truth that connections with others are one of the things that define us; they help us ascertain the vitality of relationships that form from connections. And to live a fuller life. We as a species crave vital relationships; they help us form the fundamentality of our being. On the other hand, relationships that drain energy can be detrimental to our physical and mental beings. It’s at times like these that, once again, facing the truth about it can help us become more. It can take us from a 0 to a 1.
