Applications Of Aluminium 6061 Plates
First, it is investigated how the sample thickness affects the perforation resistance of the Aluminium plates. The maximum resistance to perforation, for the range of thicknesses tested, was reached using 4 mm thick panels, as it was demonstrated that the perforation of the investigated plates increases with the target thickness. The Aluminium 6061 Plates were struck with a variety of impactor head shapes to document how the projectile shapes affected the perforation The findings demonstrated that flattened impactors used to impact plates provide the maximum perforation resistance. Moreover, the results showed that changing the size of the targets has no significant change in the dynamic of the plates investigated in this study. Finally, it is suggested that the finite element models developed in this study can be used to capture the effect of the geometric and loading conditions of Aluminium plates under perforation by low-velocity impact.
