Using online banking, you can connect your bank and credit card accounts to QuickBooks. You can avoid manually entering transactions by downloading or importing them, matching them, and adding them to your register in this manner.
As the name implies, you must have an Internet connection to use this feature. Your financial institution must also provide this service. Once you’ve met these two requirements, you can activate your QuickBooks online banking.
However, whether using QuickBooks Online or the desktop version, you might run into issues when setting it up, downloading transactions, or editing transactions that have already been downloaded.
Errors and Fixes for QuickBooks Desktop Online Banking
To continue using QuickBooks Desktop features like online banking, you must have a supported version of the software. This does not mean you have to have the most recent version, just that it is less than two years old (counting back from May 31st of the current year). Another suggestion is to always install the program on a computer that meets the system requirements.
OL and OLSU error codes are frequently encountered when launching online banking or downloading brand-new transactions. There are numerous potential causes for these mistakes:
Bank/financial institution issue- There are times when you won’t be able to conduct online banking transactions because the bank server is down. Additionally, there are times when the name of the bank has changed, necessitating a change in QuickBooks as well. It’s also possible that the bank switched from using Direct Connect to Web Connect or vice versa for online banking. The account in question might also be dormant.
Internet connection problem
An Internet connection is necessary to finish the process when using Direct Connect. However, if the file was already downloaded from the bank’s website and used Web Connect, it can still be imported into QuickBooks without an Internet connection.
Problem with the bank or credit card account in the company file- Errors could occur when conducting online banking due to minor account damage. Or, frequently, there is actually no damage and QuickBooks simply needs to refresh the account or online banking connection.
The issue with the format of the file being downloaded or imported- This may be related to issues with the bank and/or the version of QuickBooks that you are using.
Unsupported system or QuickBooks version
Online banking is one of the services that would also be terminated when a QuickBooks version is no longer supported. In this situation, you might get an OL or OLSU error, but the message that says “QuickBooks is unable to verify the Financial Institution Information for this Download” is more likely to appear.
- Before moving on to the next phase of troubleshooting, confirm the following to determine what is specifically causing the issue:
- QuickBooks is able to complete the task because of the firewall and internet security settings; make sure they are up to date as well.
- Verify QuickBooks has the most recent update.
- If you can’t log in to your bank’s website outside of QuickBooks, the bank may be experiencing an outage.
- Go to Classic/Registration Mode If the setting is currently set to Express Mode, go to (Edit Menu -> Preferences -> Checking -> Company Preferences -> select Classic Mode) and see if the problem still exists. While in this mode, the ability to download or import files might indicate that the format of the file being downloaded has changed.
- Verify QuickBooks has the most recent update
Following the completion of the aforementioned actions, the following actions can be taken if the problem is still not resolved. But as always, before taking any troubleshooting measures, it’s crucial to make a backup of your company file.
Common QBO Bank Feed Errors
Error 102: There may be a connection issue between QBO and the bank’s server or the bank’s website may be down for maintenance. Check to see if the bank’s website is being maintained. If not, go to Transactions -> Banking -> Update in QBO to manually update your account.
Error 103/310 – Error 103 indicates that the bank’s website is not accepting the login credentials entered in QBO, while 310 indicates that QBO stopped processing the login request to prevent being locked out. After leaving the bank’s website, log into QBO and select Update Sign-in Info after providing the username and password.
Error 105 – Typically, this denotes that the bank’s website is unavailable. Try opening the website outside of QBO once more for verification. Perform a manual update within QBO if the problem isn’t with the website.
Errors 106 and 168/324 indicate that QBO was unable to locate the account on the bank’s website. If a Fix It link isn’t available after receiving the error message, there might be a problem with website maintenance.
Error 108
A message from the bank, such as new terms of service or a special offer, requires a response from the user. Accept the message by logging into the bank’s website.
Error 109: The bank requires an updated password. Update the password in QBO after changing it on the bank’s website.
Error 155- There is no connection available between the bank and QBO, according to error code 155.
Error 185: The bank needs additional security data that isn’t already stored in QBO. This typically happens during routine updates after the cookie holding the necessary data expires. By performing 3 or 4 manual updates, you can reset the cookie. Automatic updates would not function if more information was still being requested, so manually updating would be necessary to download new transactions.
Error 192 – Due to additional security requirements from the bank, such as unique codes that must be entered each time, QBO is unable to download transactions automatically.
Error 323- This happens when two accounts have the exact same account name and nearly identical account number. Before adding an account to QBO, try editing one of the account names on the bank’s website. The same account can be added twice to QBO and still result in this error.
Error 325: This indicates that the download is still being done. It happens when downloading transactions and manually refreshing the account.
Using Web Connect
Web Connect is supported by both QBO and QuickBooks Desktop. This is an alternative if your financial institution no longer offers Direct Connect. You can also use this option to download and import transactions older than 90 days.
Before switching to Web Connect, make sure to deactivate the account’s Online Services in QuickBooks. Once logged in, see if you can download the a.qbo file of your bank.
Web Connect requires you to download the file from the bank’s website, and save it to your computer.
And import it into QuickBooks, as opposed to Direct Connect. However, it is the same procedure to match the transactions and add them to the register.
