Hidden Jewelry
In a TV documentary about royal jewelry, it was recently revealed that a group of jewelry had been secretly removed from the Tower of London and disappeared for a long time.
During the Second World War, London was heavily attacked by German bombing. When the invasion of Germany became an imminent real threat, King George VI ordered that the most important royal jewels be removed from the capital and hidden in a safe place to prevent them from falling into the hands of the Nazis.
The jewels were placed in a cookie jar and hidden in a secret vault deep in Windsor Castle. The only entrance to the vault is an inconspicuous secret door on the floor of the underground corridor. Fortunately, some of those secret working groups who were responsible for hiding jewelry survived the war. With the help of these staff, after the war, these hidden royal jewels returned to the Tower of London unscathed.
