Sheet Metal Shearing Machines are an item of hardware that is used to cut different types of metal. They are sturdy and sharp. There are a variety of shears made of metal that are available and will depend on your needs and the application. Shearing metal is a crucial step for sheet metal fabrication. Here are some tips to follow when using the most commonly used Sheet Metal Shearing Machine.
Step 1: Protection
Be sure to wear your safety gear as you’ll be working with steel, and it could be hazardous. Metal shavings may be blown into the air and cause serious injuries.
Step 2: Power up the Metal Shear
Connect the machine and switch the machine on. Examine the sheet’s bed metal shear, and ensure there’s nothing on it, like dirt or other materials that might interfere with making the cut. If there’s any debris on the bed, shut off the shear, and then clean it before you start. After you’ve cleaned the area, you can start again.
Step 3: Cut the Metal
Place the sheet of metal on the bottom of the shear. Be cautious, as it’s already running at this point, so make sure that the sheet metal does not come in touch with the blade. This is the same for sheet metal, too. There is a back gauge for the sheet shear. You can adjust it to cut the metal approximately an inch more than the size you want to cut.
Step 4: Cut the Other Sides of the Metal
Then, turn the metal 90deg. put the side that was cut just on the squaring bars on the bed. Set the tape measurement of the shear on the bottom of the piece of metal and push it across to form the measurement system. Make a measurement that is 1 inch more than your goal length. Place the metal on the bar that is squaring and then take your pedal to the sheet shear. The sheet metal will be cut.
Step 5: Repeat Step 4
The sheet of metal is then turned and placed on the bar that is squaring. Follow the same steps as were completed in the previous steps until you reach the desired measurement of the sheet of metal.
Step 6: Check the Output
Remove the sheet of metal from the bed and look it over and verify that it’s the correct dimension. If there are still any irregularities in the measurements or form, place the sheet back onto the mattress, and repeat step 4. When the sheet is perfectly sheared take it off the bed and place it aside.
Step 7: Clean and Store
Once it is done You should turn off the machine and put it aside correctly. Shut off the power source for the machine. Clear the mattress of debris and dirt. Make sure to clean the blade using a toothbrush to get rid of all metal shavings. Unplug the socket, then roll up the cord before putting it aside. Protect the metal sheet with a water-proof substance to keep it from becoming wet and developing corrosion.
How to Choose Shearing Machine
The shearing machine has an adjustable top blade and a moving bottom blade, with an adequate knife gap to any thickness metal sheet (such as mild steel, galvanized steel, stainless aluminum sheet, and so on. ), which will apply shear forces to break down metal sheets in accordance with the dimension needed.
shearing machine Types
Pedal shears, mechanical shearing machines, electric shears, swing beam shearing machines, and guillotine shearing machines.
Pedal Shears
Shearing machine with a fixed fulcrum that is able to reduce two-thirds of operating force. Partially machine tools that are equipped with pressure feeding have been found to be of top quality lightweight and movable and can be used for manual cutting in the sheet metal industry.
Features: No need for manpower or electric power, a proper structure, auto reset, and portable pedal with cutting stopper, folding pedals, cutting quality: smooth cut, with no burrs, to ensure that the cutting precision is maintained. It is energy efficient, easy to manipulate cost-effective, and practical.
Mechanical Shearing Machine
Principle: After being rotated through the rod connecting it to and driven by the rack, which is powered by an electric motor the eccentric wheel that is connected to the rotation axis drives the knife resting in the motion of a seesaw to cut sheet materials.
Features: Simple structure, just foot control, The entire mono-block cast structure hand-held adjustment of the backguage.
Electrical Shearing Machine
Principle: Once it has been turned through the rod connecting it to another, and driven by the chain, which is powered by an electric motor and an eccentric wheel linked to the rotation the axis drives the blade adapter to motion that cuts the sheet material.
Features: Single and inching, foot control of the switch, better cutting speed, the whole mono-block casting structure, the back gauge adjusts manually.
Swing Beam Shearing Machine
The top blade is fixed onto the knife rest, while the lower one is fixed to the worktable. The rest of the knife moves around an axle fixed in a to-and-fro movement, achieving vertical cuts over and over again.
Features: Top blade has two cutting edges as well as the bottom blade which has four cutting edges. Knife gap adjustment, unadjustable shearing angle. A kind of poor performance when cutting through thick materials Simple design Low maintenance, Knife rack is returned via a nitrogen Cylinder.
Guillotine Shearing Machine
The basic principle is that oil cylinders sit on opposite sides of the machine, driving the knife rest vertically, in order to create linear cutting.
Features: Top and bottom equipped with 4 cutting edge Shearing angle adjustments electrically. Knife racks return using nitrogen cylinders(or hydraulic return ), achieving some sort of high performance when cutting large sheets of metal.
