History
Students and teachers were motivated to shape the moral and ethical direction of America during those early years. After that, in 1976, Liberty Baptist College became the official name of the institution, and the school’s colours were changed to red, white, and blue. In 1980, the college received accreditation from the Commission on Colleges of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools. By 1985, the institution had earned accreditation as a university, added programmes, and gained acclaim from both the general public and the academic community. In the same year, Liberty launched what is now known as Online Liberty University, a ground-breaking distance learning programme.
